There is a lot of truth to Charles' review - sometimes Monocle can be too cosmopolitan and 'designery' for its own good. Interestingly, the magazine fits the a few categories from the the witty 'Things people like' website; especially Japan. Monocle loves Japan and anything Japanese! Exclusively commissioned by Monocle manga comic anyone? Otherwise, it's a great way to while away a few hours - interesting articles with substance. I buy it every month. One question - why is it cheaper to subscribe in NZ than it is in Australia? Something strange there...

    Date: 20/06/2010

Monocle is the most interesting and cutting edge mag on all the worldly issues you want to know about. I have been looking for a mag that gives me this sort of insight and with monocle I got that and so much more... Keep it up monocle and I will be on board for a long time

  • Vincent Scaturchio's review on MONOCLE
    Date: 14/05/2010

The thinking persons magazine. I view this brilliant mag as a compendium of the world, constantly keeping me up to date and in the know. The design and fashion is my taste and the presentation is second to none. The only mag that I treasure and want to keep displayed prominently in my bookcase and lying around the house.

  • Charles Jamieson's review on MONOCLE
    Date: 03/03/2010

You may hate to admit it, but Monocle is a really good magazine. It really is pretty much the definitive round-up of everything that's great at the 'higher end' level of consumer goodness. Detractors might say that Tyler Brule has founded his career on being a big prissy girl, bringing his readers the best in the way of impossibly expensive architecture and 'lifestyle' goods in between crapping on about how JAL should re-decorate their first class cabins and re-engineering the way that Swaziland presents itself to the world. And they'd be 100% right... but take it with a huge pile of salt and you'll find that this really is one of the very best mags out there.
